Thoroughbred Farm Tour

On August 6 Bonnie and I had the opportunity take the Thoroughbred Farm Tour with a group from The Villages Lifelong Learning College. The tour started with a bus trip to Ocala and the Ocala Breeder’s Sales (O.B.S.) training and sales grounds to watch the thoroughbreds train on the synthetic one-mile racetrack. (Unfortunately, the track was being repaired so we did not see the horses train.) Next stop the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders mini-museum for a brief visit and history lesson. We then visited one of the multimillion dollar Thoroughbred farms to see the incredible stallions, mares and the newborn foals. We also visited two other smaller farms. Last but not least, a short ride back to restaurant overlooking the track at O.B.S. for a great ranch style lunch. Our instructor was Thomas Sweeney.

Overview of St. Augustine

Flying the Dynamic Aero over St. Augustine.

Yesterday I was invited by a friend to fly in his light sport airplane (LSA). His airplane is a Dynamic Aero. We flew from Ormond Beach (OMN) to St. Augustine SGJ). I took these images with a Samsung point-and-shoot camera. I enhanced images using Adobe Photoshop.

Lake Panasoffkee, FL

On Sunday my dog, Andy, and I drove from The Villages to Lake Panasoffkee. Neither of us had been there before. These are photos of some interesting things we saw.
